When we travel, we like to plan our trip around food. Every place from fine dining to hole-in-the-wall. Chain restaurants to mom & pop restaurants. And everything in between. And I can’t think of a better place to do that other than New Orleans.
We stayed at the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street so at first we stayed close to the hotel and ate at the Restaurant R’evolution 2020 since you can get to it from inside the hotel. My favorite restaurant was Elizabeth’s Restaurant. The parking lot is small so we decided to walk to it. Which I regret doing. It only took about 30 minutes. But because it was so hot, it seemed like we would never get there. That Naw-lins Heat ain’t no joke. But once we got into the AC of the restaurant, seated, and fed; it was all worth it.
Palace Cafe was my least favorite was dining experience. It has a nice ambiance but my food came out with too much salt.
We went to other spots around our hotel where tried a Gator Po-boy. It was my first time eating alligator. It was really good. I also had a mimosa for the first time. Not really my cup of tea but it was nice. All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves. So much so that I gained like 5 pounds while we were there. Which was only a week 😐
