One of my latest projects was a much need pin cushion.
I could have opt for the standard tomato pin cushion but that wasn’t sassy enough for me. So at first I thought I wanted a dress form pin cushion but when I saw this idea on Pinterest, I had to make my own.
To create your very own DIY mason jar cozy, you will first need to gather a few materials. Start with a mason jar, any size you prefer, along with some fabric, cotton, scissors, E6000 glue, and a round plate for cutting out a circle from your fabric. A candle holder plate works well for this purpose. The fabric you choose will play a significant role in the final look of your cozy. While the original creator had a specific snow leopard print in mind, they ended up purchasing fleece blanket material instead. This unexpected choice forced them to think creatively and use a little extra glue to make it work.
When selecting fabric for your mason jar cozy, consider the texture, color, and pattern that will best complement your personal style and home decor. You may want to opt for a thinner fabric if you prefer a sleeker look, or choose a thicker material for added warmth and coziness. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different prints and textures to find the perfect match for your mason jar.
Once you have your materials ready, it’s time to get creative. Use the round plate as a guide to cut out a circle from your chosen fabric. Place the fabric circle over the mason jar and secure it in place with E6000 glue. Add a layer of cotton between the fabric and the jar for extra padding and insulation. You can customize your cozy further by adding embellishments like buttons, ribbons, or embroidery to give it a unique touch.
Creating your own mason jar cozy is not only a fun and rewarding DIY project but also a practical way to add a touch of personalization to your home decor. Whether you’re looking to keep your drinks warm, protect your hands from hot beverages, or simply add a decorative element to your mason jars, this cozy is a versatile and stylish solution. Let your creativity run wild and make a cozy that reflects your individuality and creativity.
Only thing I would do differently is pull the cotton balls apart a little. Other than that I love it especially since I can store little knick knacks inside the jar. My next pin cushion project will be one for my wrist so stay tuned for that.
